A little bit of info about the Genies Down Under website

The Genies Down Under website, with matching podcast, was created to assist any genealogist who has an interest in family history with an Australian connection. We aim to provide you with these bits and pieces to help you on your way:

  • Tips: helpful hints to help you to make your family history research more enjoyable and successful
  • Tools: resources and ideas to use in your family history research
  • Tricks: nifty little ideas to make your research quicker and more interesting
  • Traps: common mistakes to avoid to save you time and money
  • Stories: plenty of inspiring, strange and funny tales about our ancestors from bygone days

Your host

Your host, Maria Northcote, is an amateur genealogist who has been researching her family's history since 1990. Her research has taken her to various places in Australia, Ireland and England so far. After experiencing many successes and making a fair share of mistakes along the way, Maria will guide you through many tips, tricks and tools she has used to help you research your own family history. Based on her more than 20 years of experience in family history research, she'll warn you about various traps for genealogists to help you save time and money along your journey.
